Everybody who knows me knows that I get a little Oscar crazy. Since I have started betting on the Oscars and seriously watching films, this has been my favorite year of the Oscars. So many great movies came out this year that pushed the bar of cinema standards.
My thoughts:
Honestly I was not upset with
Top 10 favorite movies of the year (in order):
- The Fighter - Going into this film I wasn't the biggest fan of Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale. I only saw this movie because 127 hours didn't have a showtime that fit my schedule. But I am extremely pleased that I did see this movie. Gosh this film is good. Really highlights the trailer trash culture. Marks struggle to overcome his environment even with everyone rooting for his crackhead brother. Christian Bale easily gave the best performance of the year, he really tapped into a crackhead, but a lovable crackhead.
- Social Network
- Inception
- Black Swan
- Toy Story 3
- The Illusionist
- True Grit
- Gasland
- Enter the Void
- Exit through the Gift Shop
Movies I still need to see:
- Inside Job - Really excited for this one, especially after the speech the director made while accepting the Best Documentary Award
- 127 Hours - I don't know why I didn't get to see this one. I love Danny Boyle's filming style. He doesn't confine himself to simple camera angles and film quality. He loves to experiment with shots by placing the camera in spots that the audience doesn't normally get to see.
- The Kids Are All Right - I love comedies that also have a heart.
